Re: two new images

Oh, how did I miss the 2nd image?? Just utterly brilliant Luthien! I am sorry to have been away, but I will say that all of you are important to me! I hope you get your artwork out there somehow at some point, it is worthy! :-)

Re: a change of roles

Luthien - In case that question was directed to me rather than Eruanlass - I now live in San Diego once again, after more than a decade in Western Montana which is almost 1300 miles north. I am much warmer now too! :-)

Re: two new images

Luthien - these are both an utterly fantastic rendering! I know you are likely still adding finishing touches but I have to tell you I just LOVE the feeling and the idea of both of these - thanks for sharing! :-)

Re: a change of roles

Thank you for the update! I do hope things stabilize for Erunannlass and in the meantime, you are all doing a heck of a job here! I hope to finally get grounded myself after 2 years without Ray and 1 year with no real "home" (I just got a new desk, which has given me a remarkable grounding with comp...

Re: Oxonmoot 2014 art show

Luthien - these are fantastic!! You are so fortunate that many Tolkien events happen on your side of the pond! Not much goes on here in the USA I am afraid. The only thing close to me is the fandom of TheOneRing.net and I cannot even go to their annual party this year as I will be in Bali! Wondering...

I love these Luthien! The nature, the viewpoint, and the gates with the Two Trees - awesome!

Re: The Fading

Oh, I could FEEL that poem - nicely done Alyael! And WOW, what a resonant piece shared Luthien! Awestruck as we approach Sovalwaris and the Elven Moon of Water! :-)

Re: Blind Guardian

Not metal - but I love them, and influenced by Tolkien (amongst many things but their name rules)
Narsilion - here is a sample, Winter Elven Dream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gdIp3wK9PY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Blind Guardian

I am an old school metal chick hehe. I will say that I rather like the classics more than newer material but there are some exceptions. I like some of Blind Guardian's material as well as others in what I see as a similar genre. My favorite of this genre is Leaves' Eyes. I like some songs of Nightwi...

Re: Tikal- The Mystic Metal Of Aule

I have found this thread interesting indeed. I would also keep in mind that in Tolkien's case, Catholicism saved his life. I imagine he felt somewhat of a duty to remain loyal in the eyes of the church for that, despite what he thought deep down. Not only that, when you are raised with a particular ...

Re: Art that reminds you

I think it was being Catholic as well as later being involved in academia that led him to communicate to others under the radar so that he would not reveal he did not really believe as they do. He was brilliant at this. I also believe he was just open to the experience, Catholic or not. In fact in m...

Re: Art that reminds you

Oh that is an awesome quote, I didn't know about that - he is so clever that JRRT! ;-) Duck and cover, right? I have said in the past that I believe that others have found this "door" into this realm, before Tolkien did, as well as during and after. So what is special about Tolkien's journeying comp...
