Re: Gondolin music

No, Lúthien. Mildir simply pointed out the typo, and Dave explained why he sometimes makes the same mistake in writing. My reason for quoting Mildir's correction on Nost-na-Lothion was not at all concerned with the typo. Rather, my argument with it was that I assumed that he acknowledged it in his m...

Re: Gondolin music

Here we are at last. I had suggested it, Dave had mentioned it, and now we can hear(read) the words from yourself: [...] I cannot account for J.R.R. Tolkien's choices or "amendments" to his notes. [...] I have no interest in comparing these memories with Tolkien's notes in order to draw conclusions ...

Re: Gondolin music

I agree with all of your statements here. And, not unlike us, I think that Mildir finds beauty in things of Elvish origin as well. Where his and our approach to the matter seem to diverge is how we define experiences such as yours. You and I do not need to view them to be real in order to have real ...

Discussion split off from ‘Gondolin music’

[...] a celebration that the Valar call Sagamirâyen ("Double merriment") and some Eldar have named Samirien (which is phonetically based on Valarin). [...] And by the way: I think you wanted to write "Nost-na-Lothi o n". :) [...] Samírien is an E arly Q uenya (i.e. Qenya) name from Tolkien's earlie...

Re: The Eldar aren't fiction: hundreds of people have seen (and spoken with) them

[...] " Sir ú-radon uchiliad deithad i-had in-rennon nin bedial or Nilwen ". A Mithren sentence meaning "Today I can't keep writing that part of my secret diary in which I talk about Nilwen". [...] Calling it "Mithren" (rather than Sindarin/Thindren ) is convenient, though you seem to be equating i...

Re: Question Regarding Illúvatar

Allowed the Dwarves and Ents, awakened the Elves and Men, what you mentioned = flat > round world, nudged the ring in the right direction, resurrected Gandalf, probably more.

Re: Micro/Macro-Cosmos

My thanks, Meneldur. I am glad as well to be here. And I, too, am quite interested in reading about your experiences. For unlike the nonsensical ramblings of the airheads as you call them, I am already certain that what you offer will make sense, very much so.

Lind Fuin - Night Song

This is my Sindarin translation of the Night Song from Thus Spake Zarathustra by Nietzsche. I was planning to update it (it's a bit old now) with our newest discoveries on the language but I'm too busy for that at the moment, and I wanted to share it now, so here. Fuin: sí bedir ammrui in-eithelath ...

Micro/Macro-Cosmos

I always had quite the scientific approach to the world. Knowing that we are not even a speck of dust in the Universe (after seeing so many things like this (I know, it's mass, not size)) was a very humbling experience, to the point I, at times, fell into this state in which I seemed to care about n...
