Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

Is that not what the slaves did? Yes. They waited for the moral men of the free world to recognize their first duty as free men, that being to insure that all in the country share in that freedom. That was the wish of the founding fathers. There were slaves who killed their masters, even if they we...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways? I find it quite strange that Christian, Muslims and Jews can ignore the immoral ways that their God is shown to have in the Bible, Qur’an and Talmud. I thought that while I'm active on the board again, I'd take a stab at a personal answer to t...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

[...] I imagine that the North was angry with the South for their slave holding ideas and actions before their anger moved them to end slavery in the U.S. Actually, it's more that they were upset that the Southern planter class had an unfair advantage via a slave labor force (I speak of the standar...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

[...] My bottom line on aliens is that if they were not bright enough to sustain themselves and thrive, given how far advanced they would have had to be above us, then they are not worthy of consideration. I must say I fully agree with this statement. Today's 'aliens' are affine to early medieval "...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

When you don't know any way to achieve a result without using evil, the first step to take in order to find a way is NOT use evil. And if you want to know why, in my opinion, men know so few ways to get something without using evil, I'll tell you that it's because they seldom take this first step. ...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

I imagine that the North was angry with the South for their slave holding ideas and actions before their anger moved them to end slavery in the U.S. And how many people died in the process ? Would you say that every dead man was not a mistake, just because their death has eventually led to the end ...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

I was assigning authority to the Rabbis. Not blame.

I do not agree that anger always leads to mistakes.

I imagine that the North was angry with the South for their slave holding ideas and actions before their anger moved them to end slavery in the U.S.

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

"Wait... he overturned the tables where they were having their activities, he didn't kill them !" We were talking punishment. Not killing. " the anger was legitimate and it didn't go so far as to harm them." Perhaps the anger was justified, but Jesus punished the wrong people. The Temple Rabbis had ...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

Punishing-is-always-immoral . No matter who, because if you are a God who can cure someone's evil, punishing them instead proves that you like violence or need it somehow. And you may call me a bleeding heart, but when did Jesus punish anyone in the new testament ? He forgave, even the most evil on...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

That is the problem when trying to explain an imaginary realm that has nothing to do with reality. "Punishing was needed, according to the traditional biblical God." Sure, and I would have no problem with that but God punished the innocent instead of the guilty and I do have a problem with that. Do ...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

No problem on your last Mildir. Comparing real life to a spiritual life that cannot be proven, I find foolish. You mentioned plants and I would just say what should refute your view as unworkable. Spanish fly trap. You said --- "he gave death when someone deserved it). He also gave death when no one...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

Mildir Even if every word you say is true, it does not really speak to the issues of the O.P. That's because I wanted to address the problem upstream and I hadn't yet wholly answered. The main question was: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways? I find it quite strange that Christi...

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

Mildir

O.P. means opening post or opening poster.

You do not like that the aliens lived by killing but that is exactly how mankind sustains itself.

Almost all species do. Life always feeds on death. It has to. No?

Re: How and why can people ignore their God’s immoral ways?

Mildir Even if every word you say is true, it does not really speak to the issues of the O.P. There are tons of such tales as what you have put but till firm evidence is found, it is just another ancient alien tale. I see the bible talking of God but not some guy in the sky God but the God that is i...
