Re: pictures for the ROTR

I have to say I am quite please with how well the tree image turned out. I must confess that I had my doubts about it earlier because I thought few would understand Yavanna being clothed as a tree. But now that you have it finished and I see it in large format, I can see her . I cannot say exactly h...

Re: pictures for the ROTR

I prefer the "immediacy" of the original sketches over the more completed, larger versions. Immediacy more importantly with the moon ship, because in adding more detail and light, it somehow isn't the edge of night anymore but earlier in sunset, not something you would only catch a glimpse of as lig...

Re: at evendim comes a time - part two

While we have drifted quite far from Luthien's lovely video, I am sorry to hear of your security light issue, Eruanlass. I dealt with that back in Ohio, not just the apartment security light, but a parking lot of a pharmacy right behind too. Your painting project sounds lovely, but heavy room-darken...

Re: Tikal- The Mystic Metal Of Aule

Turwaithien, if you are familiar with metal clay, I came across this tutorial on a bronze and copper mokume gane metal clay technique: http://www.cindysilas.com/mokume_gane.pdf Unfortunately, it didn't show a true finished product, just sheet of copper with the applied "wood grain" decoration. I sti...

Re: Tikal- The Mystic Metal Of Aule

Llefyn, I am actually wondering if tikal is a known element, but that we just know it by another name. For instance, perhaps a metal from the Refractory group on the Periodic Table so that it would meet the clue of "bright green or red in varying lights". Right now I am wondering about tungsten with...

Re: Tikal- The Mystic Metal Of Aule

Since Aule had the dominion over shaping the earth to bring Eru's vision to completion, I am wondering if Tikal isn't an element rather than an alloy. As a demiurgic being, I think he created another metal that embodied the properties of copper, silver, tin, iron, lead and gold. I think the phrases ...

Re: The Elven Way Poem

This indeed a beautiful poem. Thank you for posting it, Brethil. Since you didn't have any author and said you had found it a long time ago, I went looking to see if I could find out where it came from. It seems that it's really called "Remembering" and was written by Lirinen of the Elven Realities ...

Re: Sindarin poems

This may throw a spanner in the works.  ::) But as I read JRRT's English version, I thought it was Beren shivering, not the stars. I realize the punctuation and pronoun usage don't make it out that way, but that's still the way I read it it. (I still wouldn't choose "shuddering", but if my interpret...

Re: Dineen and Dave's Wedding Bands

I was thinking we need to get a photograph of the rings on our hands now that they've been worn for 2 and a half years.

Dineen and Dave's Wedding Bands

The Sindarin inscription is:

Tâd cuil, tâd gýr, min meleth

What a friend translated for us (with Elfling assistance) from our:

"Two lives, two hearts, one love."

Yes, I thought so too. Truly a gift from Ulmo, the shells and the music talent.

Playing Shells (music from the sea)

Jazz trombonist Steve Turre plays a variety of shells with others in a live performance. This video called Sanctified Shells is ten minutes long, but well worth it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xs2T6dJx50 Another (television appearance, you get a good look at the shells with this one.) This one g...

:-[ Ooops. I somehow overlooked this thread and posted this as a separate one..sorry. That's OK, Meríndë. This thread had been buried in the General section as it had begun before we established this board for creative subjects. Your post reminded me of it, so I merged the topics and got it placed ...
