Sketches of Imaginal scenes

Here are some sketches I made based on what I encountered in active imagination exercises. These are from Monday, Feb 20, 2017 http://forum.westofwest.org/download/file.php?id=272&mode=view http://forum.westofwest.org/download/file.php?id=270&mode=view http://forum.westofwest.org/download/file.php?i...

Re: Discovering Your MBTI Type

Ha, I did one of those online tests and while it confirmed INFP, it refused to reveal my inferior function.

Here's the outcome. It really messes up with the role as diplomat it suggests :o :plaag:

Re: Discovering Your MBTI Type

What's your full type then? Mine is INFP, bordering on INTP. The other three axes are quite outspoken. I have no idea about the inferior type: it wasn't mentioned in the test, or maybe I forgot. I'm not convinced that it's so hugely useful though. Learning the type didn't tell me anything that I did...

Re: The Sethian Mythos

Also: it's not so that most scientists are involved with saving humanity from itself. It would be a splendid idea if they would though. Well, I'm very sorry you feel that way, (and perhaps you're just being humorous) but if you don't think things like pollution and climate control are a serious thr...

Re: The Sethian Mythos

So, some replies. I hope it's not too fragmented. Well, don't think too hard about it Lúthien... these things are still very hotly debated. ... ... (Many of the questions that have plagued philosophy have ended up being a ping pong match back and forth between the objective and the subjective.) I'm ...

Re: The Sethian Mythos

About Jungian psychology including supernatural: he made a development in that sense. At first he did not take anything supernatural into account, but his experiences around the time of the Red Book (1913-1920(?)) changed his mind. I think Lance quotes him somewhere, referring to something Jung said...

Re: The Sethian Mythos

Copy that about Freud, Taurandir! It's very interesting to read about Jung and Freud breaking up in Jung's "Memories, Dreams, Reflections". While the common opinion is that the 'scientific' Freud dumped his 'not so scientific' pupil Jung because Jung was a bit wacko; in that book you can read a whol...

Re: The Sethian Mythos

Thank you for that. This is most useful, maybe I should try and explain why. Like with everyone, everything that happened in my life prior to coming across all this has set me up with a certain mindset. Part of that is an inner contrast between the rational way of thinking that I've always had and t...

Re: The Sethian Mythos

Cool, I'll have a look. Edit - Actually, after having read your post twice I still cannot connect the dots. Supposedly I miss some contextual knowledge, for instance about the Sethian mythos, as the others also suggest? I do know a few things about Jungian typology (it was once used at a training we...

Re: The Ironic Imperative

Just to make it explicit in order to remove all room for doubt: no, I don't think that Tolkien isn't above criticism. I wouldn't know why. Though I do agree with Dave that the notion of criticising Tolkien makes little sense here because Tolkien is an author, and this is not a literary criticism for...

Re: The Ironic Imperative

I guess what I was really asking is if Tolkien (or his message) is beyond criticism. Aw, surely you weren't thinking that I was dissing Harold Bloom because he had the audacity to be critical of the untouchable JRR Tolkien? :o IF you did, please re-read what has been said. I'm honestly quite surpri...

Re: The Ironic Imperative

I guess I can stop defending Harold Bloom because he certainly doesn't need it, but I guess it's kind of difficult to remain quiet while a sort of personal hero is being misrepresented. However, in the interest of not creating bad feelings I'll stand down. Don't get me wrong: I very much appreciate...

Re: The Ironic Imperative

Along the same lines that Skookum pointed out, I think this may be an example of type prejudice. (...) I know that it often plays a role in critics of Jung's work, so it may be a factor in regards to critics of Tolkien's work as well. S) Sorry that it took me so long to get around to answering your...
