Re: The Night Song

Wow, I like this chant/poem.

I must have missed it the day you posted it, as I have been reinstalling my linux system (many times actually -- there were some unforeseen problems with conflicting libraries).  I just saw it now as a Yahoo spider was indexing it.

Thanks for posting this.

Re: A Few Pieces...

Wow...this is something I used to do back in the day (by that I mean the late 80's) when I was taking Programming in college.  I remembered doing it, but had forgotten which ASCII code corresponded to what.  I wasn't going to mention it because I thought it might be too techy. Thanks, Tatha, for the...

Re: A Few Pieces...

While on the subject of Quenya - how do you guys manage to get the umlats to show up above your A's and E's?  I see no umlat key on any keyboard I type on. This may help: http://www.starr.net/is/type/htmlcodes.html Just copy the character you are interested in, and paste it into your message.  This...

Re: Also

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if there is one. I did some extensive searches, but didn't find any Tolkien poetry collections, other than what has already been mentioned. Seems odd that one hasn't been published, but then JRRT was looked down upon by the literati for a long time (who knows why -- as if...

I thought people may also be interested in this site:

http://wwar1.blogspot.com/

It is a large collection of a WWI soldier's letters home, which have been serialized by date.  The effect is that this person (now long dead) is writing a blog in real-time.

Facinating reading.

Yes, this is the right place.  :)

And thanks, I really like this poem.  Strong imagery.

Our Symbol explained

To the upper left on the board's banner, you can see the logo of Ilsaluntë Valion.  It is an inverted crescent containing within its arms an accurate representation of most of the brightest stars in the Pleiades star cluster (called Remmirath, "The Netted Stars" in Quenya).  Also within its circle i...

"Goblin Feet" by JRR Tolkien

Goblin Feet "I am off down the road Where the fairy lanterns glowed And the little pretty flittermice are flying: A slender band of grey It runs creepily away And the hedges and the grasses are a-sighing. The air is full of wings Of the blundering beetle-things That warm you with their whirring. O!...

As someone who has a strong connection to Nessa in her deer aspect, I was drawn to this poem. ///Dave _____________________ Hunt As I wind around the inky serpentine ashphalt Sliced though an ancient wood A silver shock of antler and teardrop tail Jolt my ever-shrinking memory Of the wildness that s...
