Imagery from Nost-na-Lothian in Gondolin

Post by Lúthien » Sun Jan 11, 2015 12:07 pm

These are based on the meditative session I did last summer. I created a couple of sketches immediately afterwards (as I often do instead of a textual report these days). Not all have been worked out yet but thought they might be fun to share nonetheless, I hope to get onto working them out soon.

This one was made on the path that leads into the secret passageway that leads through the Echoriath mountains:

This is where the path exits into the central plain, looking onto Gondolin. I imagine that much of the land inside the ringed wall is put to use for, e.g. food production such as cultivating corn:

This is how I perceived the main gate - not the heavily guarded entrance that Huor came on, but a kind of resident's entrance to the city that could be taken if you were out on the plain:

Image

This should be an image of the main fountain, and some guards standing next to it (I know it's a very sketchy still - I also wanted to make this one more ornamental, in a similar manner as Ruth Lacon does - she gives such great care to decorating her pieces while I merely make snapshots ;) ):

Image

This is a scene during the festivities of Nost-na-Lothian, where subject has just been handed a glass full of Mirúvore - and holding it up against the sunlight to admire the greenish-golden colour:

They are stunningly beautiful, and I mean it.
And strangely, there is something familiar about them. Sometimes (very rarely) I allow a strange sensation. It comes with a dizziness and is hard to describe. At the end of it, I feel if I would allow it, this reality would unravel. When it happens, I tend to pull away from it.

Looking at your sketches, I had such a moment, whatever that may means.

Gorgeous. If I am allowed to, I may would try print at least one and make a frame for it to hang it up. Something there clearly touches me, may it just be my current mindset, or something beyond that.

Wonderful!

Thank you both!

-> Alyael, feel free to print them. However, it might be better to wait until they're done ... or else, let me send you a full resolution version. These ones are scaled down, which might result in an ugly print.

That would be so lovely, Luthien. I am especially taken by the view upon Gondolin as well as the gates. Wish I could paint, but I am useless with a brush in hand grrr lol

Very beautiful, as I feel all of your Imaginal artwork is, Melleth. I like the idea of printing some of these out, and look forward to seeing the drawings as you refine them.

I love these Luthien! The nature, the viewpoint, and the gates with the Two Trees - awesome!
