JRRT's "The Fall of Arthur"

Post by Meneldur Olvarion » Sat Mar 09, 2013 4:33 pm

This is his unfinished mytho-historical re-working of the Arthurian Legend. It is to be released this May 23rd, and is now available for pre-order:

The concluding paragraph of the blurb is interesting:
Associated with the text of the poem, however, are many manuscript pages: a great quantity of drafting and experimentation in verse, in which the strange evolution of the poem’s structure is revealed, together with narrative synopses and very significant if tantalising notes. In these latter can be discerned clear if mysterious associations of the Arthurian conclusion with The Silmarillion[...]
That's only 'mysterious' if one takes the overcultural worldview of Tolkien as a "Writer of Fiction" rather than a craftsman working with mytho-historical faerie-gold.
