Mormeril

Post by Ellenar » Mon Sep 03, 2012 6:12 pm

Mormeril

O, rare the black rose that blooms in the darkness
though sharp the thorns, its fragrance is sweet.
Beautiful, bejewelled with silver-sheen
glinting with the fiery heart of stars.

Note: I have been engaged in long study of the mythology, its languages, and various other works of Tolkien. In a recent moment of contemplation upon the essay "On Fairy Stories", I began to "see" myself with new eyes; suspecting that another veil had been torn from me. It was at that time that I decided that the device of the Black Rose would become my personal emblem. It was then that I took upon myself the name Mormeril, to be my use-name, in the same way that Aragorn was called Strider and Ereinion was known as Gil-galad; for the device that her bore upon his shield. It was in meditating upon the name that the above verses came to me.

It seems many of us have had some layers peeled off this week, pretty intense that last full moon - wow!! Lovely poem and while I do not yet know my latest revealing (and possibly "download"), I look forward to knowing more - about your unfolding as well Ellenar! :-)

It's true, that there has been much internalization of new modes of awareness, within my life as of late. I feel transfigured, as if I am becoming something new and yet familiar.

Suilad ~

The imagery in this is quite stirring, Elennar. I sometimes marvel at the number of names that have come to me since I chose to follow a 'Lore resonant' spiritual path, by my own choosing, as an expression of how my fellow mariners see me, or from more divine sources.

Rowan and I made a journey last night as part of our honoring of Lady Yavanna, and I returned from it knowing that I had reached a depth of entering/being in the Blessed Realm that I had not previously achieved, at least not to this degree of intensity, so I guess that could be another layer peeled away. I'll be detailing it in another forum, to keep your poem in the spotlight here.

I am beginning to understand why some of my most beloved figures, within the mythology, have several names attributed to them. Within the lore, names often reflect a specific aspect or virtue of a person's overall being. Alot of times, they are acquired when a person reaches a certain point of growth, development, or personal attainment. Thank you both for your kind words, and I look forward to reading your accounting of your journey, Eruannlass.
