Mormeril

Mormeril
O, rare the black rose that blooms in the darkness
though sharp the thorns, its fragrance is sweet.
Beautiful, bejewelled with silver-sheen
glinting with the fiery heart of stars.
Note: I have been engaged in long study of the mythology, its languages, and various other works of Tolkien. In a recent moment of contemplation upon the essay "On Fairy Stories", I began to "see" myself with new eyes; suspecting that another veil had been torn from me. It was at that time that I decided that the device of the Black Rose would become my personal emblem. It was then that I took upon myself the name Mormeril, to be my use-name, in the same way that Aragorn was called Strider and Ereinion was known as Gil-galad; for the device that her bore upon his shield. It was in meditating upon the name that the above verses came to me.
