Verse for the Fading

Post by Hostawen » Thu Apr 24, 2008 7:48 pm

Was digging around and found this in some of my old poetry books ...

Verse for the Fading

Like leaf upon tree
Too soon we’ll fade
The deed is done
The call has come
The rivers will flow
Ages grow old
The deed is done
The time has come
Seasons still wane
Voices decay
The deed is done
The fading has come
Yet memories last
Tales hold fast
The deed is done
The era has come
White gulls intone
Time lingers on
The deed is done
The day has come

would make a good song, I think  ;) ... also kind of like a chant.

It does kinda have a chant quality to it doesn't it ... might have to play around with that. Wonder what it would sound like in Elvish.

Thanks for your thoughts Jenn ;)

Hmmm, Eruannlass is really wondering what it would sound like in Eldarin...Eruannlass may have just found her next translation project...I'll be doing it in Sindarin, if someone else wanted to do it in Quenya...

I agree, this would make a good chant -- perhaps for a ritual.

There's plenty of time before the season of Fading. Does anyone want to take this on?

I've already printed this and have it in my folder of things to translate.  It's on my to do list.  I'm planning on doing it in Sindarin, tho, not Quenya...

Hostawen, you may want to consult Calantirniel on this.  She is acquainted with a few people whom are very knowledgable in Quenya.

Note:  I did not use the word fluent because one cannot gain fluency in a language which is incomplete.

I think this would be a good one to translate into Quenya.
