An Elvish Travelling Hymn

Post by Eadhastar » Thu May 08, 2008 8:40 pm

I wrote this about 5 or 6 years ago. I also wrote it in Quenya, which I have recorded me reading. I will try and attach it below for your listening pleasure. ;)

Hail! Earendil, ship of light,
guide us through this earth's black night.
Star of the last Silmaril,
sail slow through the eve's night-sea.
Lead us, Wanderer, neath the Moon;
Lead us by thy silvern shoon.
Aid us for we travel far
from Elvenhome neath white stars.
We love thee, guide for the lost,
on the seas, storm-wracked and tossed.
Shine, Earendil, ship of light.
Bring us safe though earth's black night.

It appears to be a bad encode -- there is nothing in it but square-wave noise.

Checked with Amarok, which plays just about everything.

I got it working -- what happened was the new Amarok came out a few days ago, and reset the volume setting to zero.

I like this hymn alot.  I have just finished a reread of the Silmarillion.  I think this would have made the third or fourth time, I have read it.  Anywho, I have now developed a greater understanding of, and appreciation of Earendil.  Thanks for sharing.
"The time of Moonsheen has passed. The noontide of the dominion of Men is waning. Soon will come the era of Starshine. And the ages will partake of both; the grace of Moonsheen and the glory of the Days of the Sun" -Mormeril

If you uploaded the same file you sent to me it should be working fine. At least it did when I played it on WMP a month ago. I adore this song and hearing you saying it in Quenya is wonderful!

I just love hearing the Eldarin tongues spoken aloud!  It just rolls off your tongue!  Hannon le, hannon le, hannon le!
