The Season of Fading

Post by Ellenar » Sat Sep 27, 2008 2:03 am

Red-rimmed eyes, devoid of tears, gaze into twilit skies
The death of day; cool cerulean gives way to sassy indigo
No sound but the crackle of dead leaves, and browning grass,
beneath bare feet

Shadows gather, like the fell wings of ravens
An enveloping weariness, like the folds of a great cloak
Cold grows the Red River, its flow ebbing away

A pounding heart, and a pulse that races, like a startled doe
A westerly wind carries the call of ancient horns
Ghostly notes, underlaid by the echoes of thunderous hooves
Ears that are filled with the ruckus of baying hounds

The earth quakes, and heaven trembles
For he comes, the Dark Lord of the harvest
Alas, I am fading

-Ellenar Fearlinde

Thank you, Eruannlass.  Your Enderi ritual aided in the creation process, as it was one of the sources of inspiration for me.

It is very clear in how it speaks, or, rather, paints .. sounds, smells, sensations, emotion .. and a lot more. It is impressive.

Thank you for your kind words Luthien.  I am Avarian, in that my verses tend to be a little dark at times.  However, this one was mostly created in honor of the season and Lord Aldaron, Orome.
