Song of Memory

Post by Eruannlass » Sat Oct 11, 2008 4:11 pm

Rowan and I went to the beach today.

We're standing on the deck above the beach, looking at it.  The sky was mostly clouded - Those big fluffy rain clouds - They
looked layered, white ones behind black and grey ones.  It was windy, and occasionally a patch of blue sky appeared among the clouds.  Rowan stretched his arms out, looked at me and said  "This is a perfect day for writing poetry!"

Well, we walk for awhile, goofing around, talking, and his inspiration just became too strong to ignore...

The piece he wrote is filled with the spirit of Enderi, beautifully mournful, yet filled with hope.  We want to thank Ellenar for sharing his own poetry for the season.  That encouraged us to share this.
Song of Memory
by Rowan Elensir

'Tis a virtue of the sea,
that stirs in me a memory -

of times I knew when I was young,
when the world it seemed had just begun.

In the waves I hear it's sigh,
upon the wind, to me it cries.

A light of gold once graced my shore,
it's song has faded, heard no more.

The waves of night with silver shone,
this too was silenced, 'ere it called us home.

On this strange shore, they return to me,
shells on the sand, foam on the sea.

I share them with her, these things that I see.
The sea bearing witness to the virtue in me.
I Aear cân ven na mar ~ 'The Sea calls us Home.'

For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea
~ e e cummings
