A helpful project idea for Turuhalme/Winter solstice/Yule, etc...

Post by Eruannlass »

Suilad everyone,
This was in a newsletter that Niennildi and I get, and I thought it might make an intersting project for the kniiters and crocheters in the group... I like scarves, nice, easy rectangles...

:)

I like the Mariner's charity for a group of folks using boating metaphors for what we do.

I hadn't looked at my newsletter yet. Good catch, Eruannlass.

In looking more at this, it's particularly helpful to click on the link to the SCI site and check out their simple patterns and more about their program.

I was impressed that for knitters and crocheters interested in donating their time, you can order yarn from SCI for a nominal shipping cost ($2.50/skein).

I've got a number of 'manly' colors kicking around already, but 2.50 a skein is a lot better that what you see most places, save for the dollar store and yard sales.
You're welcome, Niennildi.  I am motivated now to complete my pre-existing projects so that I can start doing something for this.  I've come across a couple of other 'knit for charity' projects out there, but when I saw this one, I felt it had relevance to something I'm involved in, in a way...sort of a 'from one Mariner to another' deal.
