Erucyermë

Post by Hostawen »

I was in a musical mood yesterday and this popped into my head. Attached is an mp3 of me singing it. I wasn't alone yesterday while recording so I had to do it quietly, almost whispering (which caused me to go sour on one part lol) and I didn't get to tap the bell as I wanted during each pause, so I will more than likely re-record it when I can. I added the Eä later so I don't have it in the recording so you can leave it out or chant it like the rest of the rhythm.
Ilúvatar … Ilúvatar  … Ilúvatar … You are Source of All, Ilúvatar.
Eru …Eru …Eru …Eru … You are First and Last, Eru.
Ilúvatar … Ilúvatar  … Ilúvatar … You are Source of All, Ilúvatar.
Eru …Eru …Eru …Eru … You are First and Last, Eru.
Eä.

lovely ... when I listened to them, I put it on three times, each playing a bit later than the other, and it worked out wonderfully like a harmonized round. It actually sounds more powerful like that .. because the energies vibrate faster together, from what I can tell.

Cool stuff, hon!  ;D You have me all inspired now.

Suilad Hostawen,
Thanks for sharing.  Your voice is beautiful - I really like the rhythm of this chant/song.  I have been thinking lately of taking the idea behind a Wiccan Book of Shadows and making one for IV.  Maybe this is why I was never able to put anything in my current BOS that relates directly to Wicca...I think I'm going to re-dedicate it and start over.  I'll definitely including this.

that's a good idea, Eruannlass! ... it would be especially lovely if Tengwar was used in places and there were many illuminated images and words. :D love that thought ...

I wouldn't write out the full book in Tengwar, but I do love to write in it, and no doubt would do some illuminations along the way...

well no .. that's why I said "in places" ... it would be terribly laborious and possibly more a hindrance than a help!!! Very beautiful either way.

Wow...

This is very good!

I also like Eadha's idea of multiple synced tracks (though I am pressed for time now and will try that later).

Do you need any recording studio software?  (It would probably be best to reply to that via PM, if you are interested.)

///Dave

P.S. And the BOS idea is also very cool.  Sorry my replies are a bit choppy.  We are busy packing.

Suilad Aikanar,

Doesn't packing up to move really blow?  And unpacking equally blows...

Anyway, doing a BOS was just a natural progression for me...the one I started is named 'Whispers of Lush Grasses', in deference to my experience/memory of the grass field...(see mediation #4 if you don't know what I'm talking about...)

If anyone out there wants more info about what goes in to a "Book of Shadows", feel free to ask...

Thank you so much Eruannlass! *blushes* Guess that means I can actually sing lol. Never really thought I had that gift. Oooo love this idea! and I'm flattered to be added to it :) I really like Eadha's Tengwar idea, the Book of Kells popped into my head when I read it. Alas, I can't draw so I doubt I'd ever be able to do something that thought out lol. Perhaps we could use a new thread for ideas concerning an IV liturgy book/BOS.

Thank, thank, thank ya to everyone for the thoughts :) Encourages me to want to do more! I'm already thinking of new ideas.

I've found that lettering is quite a bit easier than drawing.  I printed out the following guide to refer to for my own lettering, and calligraphy pens run about 2 bucks each at most craft/art stores.  Remember how you get to Carnegie Hall, and you'll be having fun with it in no time.  Plain old paper works for practice, but if you are wanting to have something to hang on your wall, there is parchment and calligrapher's paper which is far better.  I like the Formal Book-Hand Style the best...

Here's another page I printed that shows the Tengwar alphabet and the all important rules for writing it correctly...

Great link, thanks for sharing. I may have to break out my pen and India ink and see what I can do. I am horrid at drawing so who knows ;)

Just remember  - you're writing, not drawing...I actually find calligraphy a calming activity...
