Cool! I was wondering where to get clear sunglasses, but Dineen just told me that you can buy safety goggles relatively inexpensively. Combine those with your adhesive sodium spectral filter film, and that should work perfectly.Eruannlass wrote:[...] Some months ago, after Luthien mentioned the astronomy filters, I actually found an astronomy web page that sold them in the form of an adhesive film that could be cut to fit whatever you want to attach it to. I am pretty sure that I bookmarked it, because I was planning on buying some for my windows. I really like your sunglasses idea.
Yes, the American populace is both dumbed-down and continually fearful -- hence all of the 'Conspiracy Theories' (I hate to break it to them, but most people are social beings, and the probability of maintaining a secret decreases exponentially with the number of people involved in said conspiracy, making the success of one highly unlikely -- Hell, even the al-Qaeda people blabbed about their airplane plans, but the U.S. Government willfully choose to ignore them, which is a different thing altogether).I swear, America is collectively afraid of the dark. I usually hold my hand in front of them, but that only does so much. Rowan says that there is so much more out there, and I really want to see it one of these years.
Anyway, those sodium lights have such a narrow emission band that the contrast is almost completely binary (light/impenetrable darkness). You could hide a platoon in those black shadows and not see anything until the muzzle flashes started. They are hardly "security lights" -- more like the opposite.
